A man convicted of hiding six pounds of heroin in his luggage on a flight from Ghana to Maryland has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
Suleiman Zakaria, 27, of Pikesville was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore. A jury convicted him in October of importing heroin into the United States.
According to testimony, Zakaria flew from Ghana to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in January of last year. He was searched as he entered the United States, and the drugs were found concealed in the lining of his luggage."
